We are pleased to announce that Orillia Eyewear will now be utilizing digital retinal imaging for patients of ALL ages when you visit us for your regular comprehensive eye examination. With this new technology, digital photographs will provide Dr. Kingstone with detailed pictures of the inside of the back of your eye (retina). State of the art software allows us to store, review and enhance these images to clearly record your current eye health, and all future photos can be compared to detect any changes to your retina the next time you visit us to get your eyes examined.

While this technology is a benefit to all patients, regardless of their eye health history, it is highly recommended that those deemed “High Risk”, be photographed annually. These include patients who present with the following conditions:

Glaucoma patients, suspects, and those who have a family history of glaucoma

Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD)

Any other history of retinal pathology such as detached retinas, holes and retinal tears, congenital anomalies like nevi (birthmarks)

Dr. Kingstone has invested in this latest technology because he is committed to providing you with the highest standard of eye care available. We strongly encourage the use of this new technology as an integral tool to evaluate and clearly record and monitor your current eye health.

For patients whose eye exams are normally covered by OHIP, there is an additional fee for digital retinal imaging, as this is not covered by OHIP.

For patients who are not covered by OHIP for their eye exams, the fee for your comprehensive eye exam will now include detailed retinal photos of both eyes.
